I am Umma Yonis, the conception of HomeschoolingwithDeen evolved from years of witnessing and advocating for Muslim parents within the public school system as a Social worker leading a non-profit organization. During those years I witnessed an increasing number of families exhausted by the misalignment within the public school’s system, and choosing to remove their children from the public schools and into private Islamic schools; only to deal with new forms of micro-aggressions within the Muslim schools; HomeschoolingwithDeen does not condone or support race and culture based negative infiltration into the Muslim education.

As life went on and I started my own family, The question of how to educate children in an environment free from oppression and discrimination became a deep passion.

As my child got closer to school age I dedicated a large amount of time to developing, exploring, and conceptualizing the idea of alternative education systems outside the traditional mainstream school systems which lead me to choose Homeschool as a viable positive choice.

This process inspired the creation of  HomeschoolingwithDeen. HomeschoolwithDeen is a resource hub and community that aims to support Muslim families navigate the process of developing a homeschooling curriculum and framework that fits into their lifestyle.

HomeschoolingwithDeen.com  gives particular attention to parents struggling with chronic illness and or dealing with chronic life stressors and still thrive as homeschoolers and as families. The happiness, fulfillment, and self-care Mom/Dad spills over to the quality of home education YOUR children will receive.
